Rein in Sarcoma totally relies on great volunteers (you!) for our success. Here are some current volunteer opportunities for which we have a special need.

Public Relations and Marketing Committee

Marketing Committee Member
Rein in Sarcoma’s Marketing Committee will develop a comprehensive communications plan that will market and promote the mission of our organization. Committee members will make sure that our marketing tools will follow the organization’s brand. Marketing tools include but are not limited to: website, newsletter, social media, training, PowerPoints, letterhead, t-shirts, and print materials.

Public Relations Volunteers –
Rein in Sarcoma is looking for experienced Public Relations Volunteers who can help us expand our media presence but getting the Rein in Sarcoma story into the mass media. We’d like to spread the word about our Foundation in local print, radio and television media.

Social Media Sub-Committee –

Rein in Sarcoma is seeking a dedicated volunteer who is interested in assisting with social media, primarily Facebook. This volunteer should be organized, creative and have some experience with graphic design and photo editing. As part of the Marketing and Public Relations committee, it is preferred they are able to attend monthly meetings. Social media posts should be engaging, educational and insightful. Volunteer should be willing to seek out sarcoma stories in the media, local stories of sarcoma patients, educational articles about sarcoma, it’s various treatments, recent research, articles about survivorship, caregiving etc. Volunteer should also become familiar with our website and stay updated on current Rein in Sarcoma news and events.

Party in the Park

We have one remaining leadership position to fill for Party in the Park (PIP) which takes place on July 24, 2017. Leaders will be responsible for pre-event planning and organization and should be present for the remaining PIP planning meetings (May 16, June 13) and the event. See a summary of last year’s event.

Sarcoma Garden of Hope Chair – We need a leader to bring fresh ideas and greater impact to this area. This person should secure a craft or activity for this area, take pictures on attendees’ cell phones of their group in front of the sunflower display, interact with attendees as they visit the garden, etc.

Silent Auction Committee members – We are looking for many volunteers ahead of the event to solicit auction items. For more information.

Red Flags Committee

The Rein in Sarcoma Red Flags Committee is looking for volunteers who can help get the word out and educate the public about sarcoma cancers. This will include passing out literature and talking to people about sarcoma cancers. Volunteers for the Red Flags Committee will attend events and meetings throughout the year.

Patient and Family Support Committee

Rein in Sarcoma is looking for compassionate volunteers to help us better serve the needs of sarcoma patients and their loved ones. Our Patient and Family Support Committee reaches out to sarcoma patients and their loved ones by providing peer-to-peer mentoring, organizing social gatherings for those affected by sarcoma, providing gift bags for newly diagnosed and relapsed sarcoma patients, and by providing informational notebooks about sarcoma with hospital resources for sarcoma patients. This committee has monthly meetings and attends gatherings throughout the year.

WordPress Administrator

Rein in Sarcoma is looking for volunteers with a web development or server administration background to maintain, with our volunteer webmaster, Rein in Sarcoma’s WordPress website. Familiarity with Linux server administration is necessary, as the site is hosted using Amazon Web Services (AWS). WordPress experience is ideal, but anyone with experience with other content management systems, or with web development in general is welcome. Aside from server administration, preferred candidates will be able to work with our webmaster to maintain and update content on the site. Volunteers should be local (in or near the Twin Cities for occasional meetings), but can work remotely.
