Magic in the Air at Rein in Sarcoma 2009

There was magic in the air at the end of July! And while the Rein in Sarcoma 'Party in the Park' is officially over for 2009, for those who attended, the memories of this extraordinary evening are vivid and will bring a smile for many years to come

We welcomed nearly 1,000 people to our ninth annual Party in the Park on Monday, July 20. The storm clouds passed over us quickly knowing that not even rain could ruin our perfect evening!

Como Park in St. Paul was filled with music and moon walks! We rode the historic carousel, built birdfeeders & blew bubbles. We bid on incredible silent auction items, took time out for a relaxing massage and learned more about sarcoma cancer from our U of M doctors.

We remembered and honored our family and friends who have been touched by sarcoma cancer. We painted faces, putted golf balls and we surrounded ourselves with sunflowers. We sang and danced, laughed and cried. We shared our stories, listened to others and made new friends.

Continuous entertainment filled the evening on two stages. Groups included Cyril Paul and the Calypso Monarchs,  Dick and Janes Big Brass band (pictured above), Pockets and Patches, and Ross Sutter. Fire dancing with Illumination culminated the evening leading to a very moving closing ceremony.

For a few hours on this special evening - we took the night off and soaked in the unmistakable significance of community! It was remarkable.
