OnLine Auction Instructions
The Online portion of the RIS 2010 Silent Auction will take bids from Monday July 5 till midnight (CDT) Saturday, July 24th !
1) The 2010 RIS Online Auction offers a select group
of the over 300 wonderful items are expected at this year's live Silent Auction on July 26th. Auction items are arranged by categories as listed on the index on the left of each Online Auction page. You may click on the category of your choice to go to a listing of the items. Additional items will be added regularly, so check back here often to see new listings.
2) Category Listings:
By clicking on the category you will see a list of all the items currently listed in that category. You can scroll down to see a description and picture of each item listed in that category. Each item has its own information with one or more images, a description, the item donor and at times an additional link to tell you more about the item or donor.
3) Important Online Bidding Terms
- MARKET VALUE: This is the value placed on the item by the retailer or auction item donor.
- OPENING OR MINIMUM BID: This is the minimum bid that will be accepted for either the Online or Live RIS Silent Auction. This is normally 60% of the retail value of the item
- BID INCREMENTS: This is the amount of increase required for each additional bid to be accepted. Bid Increments are clearly listed with each item and normally run from $2 for inexpensive items to $10 for more expensive items.
- BUY-IT-NOW BID: Many items will show a BUY-IT -NOW Bid price. This is normally 150% of the retail value. If you really want an item, or you really want to help support Rein in Sarcoma (your donation over 100% of retail value is considered a tax deductible contribution to RIS), you can place a bid at or higher than the BUY-IT -NOW Bid listed and the item is yours, Now !
- MAXIMUM or ABSENTEE BIDS: This is the maximum amount you are willing to pay for this item. This amount is not publicly displayed. Although placing a maximum or absentee bid is purely optional, there are at least two key advantages:
- During the OnLine Auction this maximum bid will enable you to automatically stay as the highest bidder on an item you desire up to the amount you have authorized with your maximum bid.
- This authorized Maximum Bid amount will also serve as your "Absentee Bid" at the live auction on July 20th. If this absentee or maximum bid is the highest bid, you win and you will be notified and instructed how to pay for winning bid.

You will find it easy and fun to place a bid on the item(s) of your choice. All you do is click on the link below each biddable item after you have noted the particular auction item number and title to take you to the RIS Online bidding form.
- The Opening or Minimum Bid that will be accepted is clearly stated on the Item description page as the starting bid. This is normally sixty percent of the retail value. You may place an opening bid on any item that does not currently have and opening bid.
- Place a Higher Bid by entering a higher amount that meets or exceeds the minimum increment amount listed for each item.
- Buy-it-Now Bids: Items that are listed with a Buy-It-Now Price, normally 150% of retail value, allow you to make a final successful bid immediately and provides you with a charitable tax deduction for the amount of your bid over the full market value of the item.
- Placeing Maximum or Absentee Bid, which is the maximum amount you are authoring RIS to bid a particular item to assure your bid is always the highest for an item or to allow your bid to used during the live silent auction up to the total amount you authorize in your maximum bid.
