Pulse: My Cancer Journey
"It took a village to get me through cancer. My village rose up from all quarters, embroidered itself together into these crazy beautiful patterns, and mysteriously provided exactly the grace I needed at just the right moments. Some threads were slender, or appeared only briefly; others were richly interwoven at every step. All were appreciated deply. I write, first, to thank you for being. Read more....
I write also to highlight the Karen Wyckoff Rein in Sarcoma Foundation, grown from tragedy transformed, as so often happens into beauty."
So writes Christin Jaye Eaton Garcia, a poet, mother, wide, lawyer, and sarcoma survivor. In her memoir "Pulse, My Cancer Journey," Christin prese"nts all of us a rare gift.
"Attached for you are my reflections. This is a poetry collection. This is a cancer memoir. This is a faith journey. It seems a bit strange to write so openly of my faith, especially since your own views may vary widely. Yet though cancer, I faced those hard questions so many of us ask, deep in the midst of difficult journeys. My engagement with these questions seems integral to my story.
One day, I would love to see these reflections take the shape of an actual book, which might be sold to raise money for RIS. Right now I wish to share them with you. If any of you were moved to share with RIS in response, I would be honored. Mostly, though, I wish to send Peace and thanks and joy to you."
We thank Christin for sharing her journey and her gift with us.
