The Karen Wyckoff Sarcoma Foundation is dedicated to Sarcoma Cancer research, support and education...and the fight to find a cure.
RIS Fall Gathering for Sarcoma Patients, Survivors - October 28th
- First and foremost we want to support each other where ever you are in the sarcoma experience.
- Secondly we want to help educate. Paul Sanft, a professional video producer and fiancé to Tori Bahr one of our current RIS Sarcoma Scholars, will join us as part expanding our newly launched Red Flags Educational Campaign. He and his company, Ideatap Studios, have committed to make a Rein in Sarcoma Red Flags video with a similar concept to a You-tube video on Melanoma called "Dear 16 year old me". That video has had over 6 million "hits". Click here to see that video.
At 2:00 pm we will be treated to wonderful entertainment by nationally known folk singer and historian, Charlie Maguire. "Charlie Maguire is something of a legend in the Midwest. He commands a respect far beyond his years with his stories and songs of the heartland of America and the people who live there" (Winnepeg Folk Festival).
Charlie, with Pop Wagner and Toni Glover, are also celebrating Woody Guthrie's centennial year by touring nationally and releasing a critically acclaimed new CD of unique Guthrie songs, entitled Woody Reflected.
This will be a time to meet others, enjoy the beautiful scenery sample a fall respite of apple and fall treats including apple pie. Arneson Acres is a unique and beautiful 13 acres park close to everything. It is home to both the Edina Garden Club and the Edina Historical Society. The warm and inviting Terrace Room overlooks the Park and, is fully accessible and is close to parking.
RIS Gatherings are a celebration of life and support. The Rein in Sarcoma Gathering X will include (starting about 2:45 pm) a time of sharing, an update on the work of the Foundation, and an opportunity for you to become more involved in the life of our Foundation.
