RIS Fall Gathering for Sarcoma Patients, Survivors - October 28th

Arneson Acres

Eventbrite - RIS 2012 Fall Gathering

Come join with sarcoma survivors, patients, their immediate families and those who have lost someone to sarcoma to a special afternoon.  Plan now to attend our 10th "RIS Gathering" on Sunday, October 28th from 1:45 - 4:30 pm at Arneson Acres in Edina.

This will be a beautiful fall afternoon of storytelling. Our opening entertainment is Charlie Maguire. Charlie tells stories in music. His music highlights interesting people and places around MN and the Country. After being inspired by Charlie we will have fall snacks and then share our own stories. We have a dual purpose in telling our sarcoma stories.
  • First and foremost we want to support each other where ever you are in the sarcoma experience.
  • Secondly we want to help educate.  Paul Sanft, a professional video producer and fiancé to Tori Bahr one of our current RIS Sarcoma Scholars, will join us as part expanding our newly launched Red Flags Educational Campaign.  He and his company, Ideatap Studios, have committed to make a Rein in Sarcoma Red Flags video with a similar concept to a You-tube video on Melanoma called "Dear 16 year old me". That video has had over 6 million "hits". Click here to see that video.
He and his team want to begin the process by hearing your stories so that they can pick out elements to include in the video. By sharing your stories you will help them and our new sarcoma scholars understand the human side of sarcoma.* During the afternoon we will have a chance to visit, share stories, hopes, and concerns. To make a reservation for this Fall Gathering, click here.

Charlie Maguire - "A midwest legend"

Charlie Maguire At 2:00 pm we will be treated to wonderful entertainment by nationally known folk singer and historian, Charlie Maguire. "Charlie Maguire is something of a legend in the Midwest. Charlie, with Pop Wagner and Toni Glover, are also celebrating Woody Guthrie's centennial year by touring nationally and releasing a critically acclaimed new CD of unique Guthrie songs, entitled Woody Reflected.
