RIS Gathering - Sunday, January 23 with Ruth Bachman and Bill Arnold
Join us for a special RIS Gathering featuring sarcoma survivor, Ruth Bachman and comedian, Bill Arnold for Sarcoma patients, survivors, loved ones and those who may have lost someone to sarcoma.
This event is now filled, we can longer take reservations. Thank you for your interest.
On Sunday January 23, at 1:30 pm Ruth and Dale Bachman again will host an RIS Gathering in the beautiful Heritage room at the Lyndale Avenue Bachman's store. This time, we will be privileged to hear from Ruth herself, who will share the strength and grace that helped her thrive, even after losing part of her arm to high grade malignant fibrous histiosytoma sarcoma cancer.
Ruth writes of her journey: "In February of 2003, I was a left-handed woman, wife and mother in apparent good health. I ate reasonably well, was physically active, had annual checkups, practiced yoga, attended church regularly, volunteered in the community and even read to 4 year olds weekly! But as Rabbi Mordechai Kaplan put it, “Expecting bad things not to happen to you just because you are good is like not expecting the bull to charge just because you are a vegetarian!”
She will joined by "excruciatingly funny" comedian Bill Arnold, sure to make us laugh. As on of the originators of "Triple Espresso" Bill plays the deliberately inept and deadpan magician. Created in 1995, it has become a national theatrical phenomenon playing in over 50 cities and 6 countries. "Triple Espresso" is again appearing in Minneapolis. Bill has been acclaimed nationwide for his humor, magic and good clean fun.
“His magic acts are a work of deadpan genius, mixing duly impressive illusions with hilariously inept ones." The Arizona Republic
All this great food for the mind will be supplemented, of course, with physical food as well. And the treats will include cakes made by Jasmine Baultrippe, an outstanding cake designer, Julian's sister and Theresa's daughter. Theresa is a RIS Board member and whose family has created the Julian Bautrippe Fund in honor of Julian.
