Fantastic Response to the Year End Campaign by the Sarcoma Community
Thanks to all of you, Rein in Sarcoma goes into 2018 poised for another year of seminal research, education and patient support. Our initial goal for the year end campaign was $20,000; by December 15th we had met that goal. Board Members Blake Hastings and Bruce Seiber along with their families quickly added additional challenge dollars and they were joined by three other anonymous donors.
With the additional $10,000 in challenge money, many donors stepped in to go the extra mile toward a world without sarcoma. Donations came in from the RIS community, as well as new donors. A seven year old girl sent in two dollars in honor of her grandmother, many grateful patients sent donations in honor of their doctor, and many community members sent donations large and small all with the same aim to support cutting edge research, education to increase awareness and save lives, and patient and family support.
The result of all of this effort put us over our goal, at nearly $45,000!
Walser Subaru “Shares the Love” with Rein in Sarcoma
For the third year in a row Walser Subaru made us part of their year end “Share the Love Campaign.” Two hundred and fifty dollars will be given to RIS for cars sold in the final six weeks of 2017 when the donor chooses Rein in Sarcoma as the charity they want to support. Thanks to the Rein in Sarcoma volunteers who personally talked with customers and spread awareness about sarcoma at the dealership on December 16th and 30th. We won’t know the results of the 2017 campaign for awhile, however, the dealership was very busy the days we were there.
Jeff Holmquist, the manager of the dealership, lost his first wife Lora to sarcoma in 2009 and other Walser Subaru employees have also been affected by sarcoma. They know firsthand how difficult it is to fight a rare cancer. Their concern for those currently fighting the disease brings great comfort and hope to the community. Walser Subaru’s fantastic commitment to the sarcoma community has made them the Presenting Sponsor of our Summer Party in the Park for the last two years. We are looking forward to their participation again in 2018.
