Whether you are a bike enthusiast or not, how about challenging yourself to ride 25, 50, 100 or 180 miles and raise funds to fight cancer? Join our “Team Sarcoma” as we participate in the Chainbreaker 2018 bike ride for University of Minnesota Cancer Research, August 10-12.
Chainbreaker is a weekend cycling experience with the core purpose of funding cancer research. Chainbreaker puts together a full service experience by providing nutrition, hydration, first aid, bike maintenance, transportation, lodging, and entertainment to ensure a safe, successful, and fun weekend for all of its riders. 100% of every rider-raised dollar by Team Sarcoma goes directly to life-saving cancer research, including sarcoma research, at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota.
The 2018 Team Sarcoma is being led by Tom Boardman, RIS Development Committee Chair. Last year, our peloton of 18 riders raised over $25,000 to fund cancer research. Help us reach our 2018 goal of 50 riders raising over $50,000, all while having a great time riding with Team Sarcoma.
You can participate in three ways:
1. Register to ride with Team Sarcoma – choose a one-day ride of 25, 50, 100 miles, or the two-day 180-mile ride over the August 10 - 12 weekend, all routes leave from the Blue Cross corporate offices in Eagan. Use the code SARCOMA as the "Partner Code." Make sure to click “Apply Code" and let the page load for a second so the total effectively comes down to $0. Not able or prefer not to ride? You can register as a ‘virtual rider’ – just do the fundraising, no need to break a sweat.
2. Support the riders by making a tax-deductible donation. You can support either the entire Team Sarcoma Peloton or individual Team Sarcoma riders.
3. Sign up as a volunteer for the event. Volunteers are needed for Road Crews, First Aid, Food and Beverage, Photography, Check-in, and many other support activities.
