RIS meets Charities Review Council Standards

Charities Reveiw Coouncil Seal of ApprovalRein In Sarcoma Foundation  went through a review with the Charities Review Council in 2014, and we are pleased to announce that Rein in Sarcoma again meets all twenty-seven of the Council’s Accountability Standards and was awarded the “Meets Standards” seal.

The Charity Review Council reviews nonprofit organizations in four critical areas: Public Disclosure, Governance, Financial Activity, and Fundraising. The review worked to ensure that Rein in Sarcoma’s operations, structure and policies meet widely accepted standards for accountability and transparency. The awarded “Meets Standards” seal shows our commitment to accountable and ethical practices.

Rein In Sarcoma is now listed as a reviewed organization on the Council’s Smart Givers Network and the Smart Giver newsletter distributed to households, businesses and nonprofits.

Achieving the Charities Review Council’s standards has been an important task for RIS in 2014. It has been a good process to improve our organization and Board’s accountability, transparency and management. Achieving these standards also serves to assure donors that you are supporting an organization that is doing its very best to be good stewards of the donations entrusted to us to support sarcoma patients and loved ones, to advocate for better and more timely sarcoma diagnoses and to find cures for sarcoma cancers. RIS president, Pete Wyckoff, also mentioned that “meeting these standards also says a great deal about the tenacity and the commitment of the leadership of Rein In Sarcoma as we are one a very few “all volunteer” organizations to achieve this status.”
