Sarcoma Scholar Boot Camp has provided intensive education on a little known disease to over 40 RIS scholars since the program’s 2009 inception. Dr. Kathryn Dusenbery, charter member of Rein in Sarcoma Board of Directors and the SH Levitt Chair in Radiation Oncology at the University of Minnesota, conducted the first Sarcoma Scholar Boot Camp.
The Boot Camp sets the stage in preparation for the rest of the scholars’ year. The scholars will attend tumor conferences with the medical staff, plan a lecture for their fellow medical students, and plan and carry out other events. They work primarily with their physician mentors, but also meet with the Red Flags Education Committee. All scholars plan a project that may be done individually or with another scholar.
This year’s Boot Camp was held September 6th at Mayo Clinic Health System in Cannon Falls.Read More
