RIS Volunteer Spotlight – Jim Hebert

Jim Herbert
Jim Herbert, “volunteer extraordinaire.”

Volunteer with RIS

Whether you have a few hours a month, a week, or for a one-time event, we can use your help and talents.

This month, we would like to recognize Jim Herbert for his time and commitment to our annual Party in the Park over the past 12-plus years! As a veteran, former air traffic controller, Mediterranean Sea sailor raising cancer awareness on the journey, AND high school teacher, Jim is a very interesting man! We have been so lucky to have Jim help us with driving the truck, making deliveries and other behind-the-scenes tasks for Party in the Park. He and Mike Trucano have also been the masterminds and creators of “Sarcoma Corner” since its inception, an amazing area for reflection, support and education at the Party in the Park.

At 80 years old, it’s time for Jim to pass the torch to another passionate volunteer. Can you drive a truck? Are you a good problem solver? Do you have time on July 23th, 2018? Know that your time will be appreciated helping others. Contact us, and join the behind-the-scenes crew which makes our family event run smoothly. Register as a volunteer and see a list of our needs.
